Terms of Service
Version 1.0 — Beta Release
Effective Date: July 31, 2026
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the subscription tech-support and scam-detection service provided by Tech Dad, Inc. (“Tech Dad,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), delivered through our website and smartphone application (together, the “Service”). By creating an account, subscribing to, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
This is a Beta release (Version 1.0). Please review Section 12 carefully.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and capable of entering into a binding contract to create an account or subscribe to the Service. By using the Service, you represent that you meet these requirements. We may suspend or terminate an account if we have reason to believe these requirements are not met.
2. Family and Linked Accounts
The Service allows a subscribing account holder (“Subscriber”) to link a family member's account (a “Linked User,” such as a parent) to provide tech support and scam-detection assistance. The Subscriber is responsible for payment and account administration. A Linked User's data is visible to the Subscriber as described in our Privacy Policy. If a Subscriber cancels their subscription or unlinks a Linked User, access to shared features will end; data retention and deletion following cancellation or unlinking are handled as described in our Privacy Policy.
3. Nature of the Service; No Professional Advice
The Service provides AI-generated informational responses and scam-detection assessments for general informational purposes only. The Service does not provide financial, legal, medical, or other professional advice, and nothing provided through the Service should be treated as such. You should independently verify any information before relying on it or acting on it, particularly before making financial decisions or sharing personal or financial information with any third party.
4. Scam Detector — No Guarantee
Scam Detector is an on-demand tool that provides an assessment based on the content you submit. It is not a guarantee that any message, call, or communication is or is not a scam, and it is not a substitute for independent verification or good judgment. TECH DAD IS NOT RESPONSIBLE OR LIABLE FOR ANY LOSS, INCLUDING FINANCIAL LOSS, RESULTING FROM RELIANCE ON A SCAM DETECTOR ASSESSMENT OR ANY OTHER OUTPUT OF THE SERVICE. You should always independently verify suspicious communications directly with the relevant institution using contact information you obtain independently.
5. Subscriptions and Billing
- 5.1 Subscription plans, pricing, and billing frequency are described at the time of purchase within the app.
- 5.2 Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless cancelled before the renewal date.
- 5.3 You may cancel your subscription at any time; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and you will retain access until then.
- 5.4 Except where required by law, payments are non-refundable, including for partial billing periods.
- 5.5 If a payment fails, we may suspend access to the Service until payment is resolved.
- 5.6 We may change subscription pricing with advance notice; continued use after a price change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the new pricing.
6. Acceptable Use
You agree not to: (a) use the Service for any unlawful purpose; (b) attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or scrape the Service; (c) use automated means to access the Service without our permission; (d) interfere with or disrupt the Service's operation; (e) misrepresent your identity or another person's identity; or (f) use the Service to harass, harm, or defraud any person.
7. Third-Party Links and Affiliate Disclosure
The Service may include links to third-party websites, including affiliate links (for example, to Amazon). Tech Dad may earn a commission on qualifying purchases made through these links at no additional cost to you. We do not control and are not responsible for the content, policies, or practices of any third-party website. Your use of any third-party site is governed by that site's own terms and privacy policy.
8. Intellectual Property
The Service, including its software, design, text, and trademarks, is owned by Tech Dad or its licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. These Terms do not grant you any ownership rights in the Service. You retain ownership of the content you submit, but you grant us a limited license to use it as necessary to operate and improve the Service, as described in our Privacy Policy.
9. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR THAT ANY AI-GENERATED OUTPUT OR SCAM DETECTOR ASSESSMENT WILL BE ACCURATE OR COMPLETE.
10. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, TECH DAD AND ITS OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, AND AFFILIATES WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING FROM THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO TECH DAD IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.
11. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without notice, for conduct that violates these Terms, non-payment, or any other reason we deem necessary to protect the Service or its users. You may stop using the Service and cancel your subscription at any time as described in Section 5.
12. Beta Test Disclaimer and Assumption of Risk
The Service is currently in Beta. Features, including the accuracy and reliability of AI-generated responses and Scam Detector assessments, are still being tested and refined. By using the Service during the Beta period, you acknowledge and agree that you do so at your own risk, and that we may modify, suspend, or discontinue Beta features at any time without liability.
13. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the current version, along with its version number and effective date, within the app and on our website. Material changes will be communicated where practicable. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
14. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by, and will be construed in accordance with, the laws of the State of New York, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles.
